Rainfall based crop insurance

Rain based crop insurance is a newly diversifying product in some developing countries. From such developing countries currently providing this product Ethiopia is one. In Ethiopia, many institutions are currently providing rain based product for their customers in different parts of our country. From such institutions and products, BG MFI is providing rainfall based crop insurance for our farmers.

BG counts a rated two years after it starts providing this product to poor farmers being with EFPRI. It has started providing this product in three selected areas of our country namely, Adaama, Bako, and Shashamane last year. In similar way, BG was sold the same product with some modifications on the last year’s policy to farmers found under the former sites this year (2012).
